Schools and Climbing the Walls…

Climbing the Walls offers a third generation climbing centre with fully qualified and experienced staff delivering memorable experiences alongside high quality nationally recognised climbing courses.

Designed to introduce the next generation of young people to the sport, Climbing the Walls aims to provide high impact thrilling sessions through the use of our Action Walls, Bouldering and 12.6m Top Rope Walls drawing young people in through FUN, CHALLENGE and ACHIEVEMENT.

Qualifications we offer

NICAS

National indoor Climbing Awards Schemes UK wide, schemes designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial structures

It can be used as a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering, the schemes are open to all candidates from 7 upwards

NICAS ranges from levels 1 to 5. Starting from the complete beginner to fully competent climber ready for competitions. The course will motivate young people to participate in physical activity and will increase climbing and movement ability. The use of log books will help measure the development of the candidates.

GCSE PE

We also work with several schools as climbing is one of the sports listed in GCSE PE specification under Identifying and Solving problems to overcome challenges of an adventurous nature. Your students can climb within the curriculum with physical education programmes of study, key stages 1, 2, 3 and 4. Climbing is one of the sports listed in the GCSE PE specification and is based around the NICAS qualification covering all aspects of the spectrum being followed.

We offer Action Walls sessions, One off climbing Sessions, NICAS climbing sessions and one off bouldering sessions.

FAQ’s

We advise you wear something that allows for a lot of movement and you feel comfortable, general sports gear is great. Climbing shoes are VITAL. If you do not have climbing shoes they are available for hire.

Minimum participation age for climbing is 5 (school year 1).

We are happy to work with you to tailor-make sessions according to your needs.

Groups can be booked by phone or directly at Climbing The Walls. 50% of the group price will be taken at time of booking with the remaining 50% paid on the day.

Costs can vary depending on activity type and membership level.

Monday 12pm – 10pm
Tuesday to Friday 10am – 10pm
Saturday/Sunday 10am – 6pm

Climbing The Walls Ltd: Directors Statement

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have taken the decision to close Climbing The Walls until Easter 2021.

The closure will take effect from 10pm on Thursday 15th October 2020.

As you can imagine, this is not a decision we have taken lightly but as a financially secure local company who physically interacts with the local community, we feel this decision is the perfect balance between being financially responsible for the future of the business and also the best ethical solution we could make given recent infection growth and the approaching Winter Wave!

Our sincerest and heartfelt thanks to our loyal staff and customers during these testing times.

We will be refunding all current bookings and pausing or refunding all membership dues. We thank you in advance for your patience, understanding and support during this time and we will use our best endeavours to refund all booking revenues by the end of the month.

This inbox will continue to be monitored on an intermittent basis.

This strategic decision will create time for some new world thinking in regard to the management/ownership/operation of the Climbing Centre and for us to consider and explore in detail, a wide variety of operating and tenancy options moving forward post pandemic to ensure the success of the centre when it re-opens.
