Benefits of climbing:
National indoor Climbing Awards Schemes UK wide, schemes designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial structures
It can be used as a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering, the schemes are open to all candidates from 7 upwards
NICAS ranges from levels 1 to 5. Starting from the complete beginner to fully competent climber ready for competitions. The course will motivate young people to participate in physical activity and will increase climbing and movement ability. The use of log books will help measure the development of the candidates.
We also work with several schools as climbing is one of the sports listed in GCSE PE specification under Identifying and Solving problems to overcome challenges of an adventurous nature. Your students can climb within the curriculum with physical education programmes of study, key stages 1, 2, 3 and 4. Climbing is one of the sports listed in the GCSE PE specification and is based around the NICAS qualification covering all aspects of the spectrum being followed.
We offer Action Walls sessions, One off climbing Sessions, NICAS climbing sessions and one off bouldering sessions. We advise you wear something that allows for a lot of movement and you feel comfortable, general sports gear is great. Climbing shoes are VITAL. If you do not have climbing shoes they are available for hire.
Groups can be booked either online, by phone or directly at Climbing The Walls. 50% of the group price will be taken at time of booking with the remaining 50% paid on the day.
An initial induction programme will be offered to all first time visitors to Climbing The Walls. Individual training programmes and classes will also be offered by our highly experienced instructors either individually or on a shared basis. All climbers must arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to party start time. Failure to do so may result in a shortened party length.
All groups have a 2 hour duration. This timeframe allows for safety briefing, games, challenges, plenty of time on the Action Walls and exclusive use of our meeting room. Non participating guests are more than welcome to utilise the spectator area and facilities at our on-site Coffee Shop.
Longer group packages including exclusive use of the centre can also be arranged.
