FAQs

Whilst we never doubt the skills and high experience of any of our customers, we want to make sure that all our participants are enjoying their activities in our Centre in the safest possible way. We offer a wide variety of activities which involve high risks (example lots of auto belay devices) and to minimise the chance of accidents or injuries we developed high health and safety standards and a very strong operation procedure. During the induction we do not intend to teach experienced people how to do what they already know, we just run a quick check that your skills align with the safety rules of our Centre.

An auto belay is an automatic belay device that eliminates the need for a human belayer. The auto belay takes up the slack as a climber ascends and safely controls the descent when the climber lets go or falls.

While we will always welcome walk up climbers we also recommend  booking online via our website to ensure we have adequate capacity for when you arrive.

Top Roping Lines – 12 lines with a minimum of 24 routes.

Lead Climbing – Minimum of 16 lines with a minimum of 32 routes.

We will run a variety of clubs for people of all ages and abilities. Young people aged 5 – 7 years can join Mini MAX whilst those aged 8+ can join Junior MAX. Anyone interested in getting NICAS and NIBAS awards will able to join our groups which will run frequently throughout the month.

We will run NICAS and NIBAS courses frequently throughout the month. If you would like to complete the award scheme please speak to a member of our staff who can tell you when the next course will begin.

Our schools and groups liaison is Deirdre Haycock. She can look at your requirements and develop a program for your group be this a one off session or a long term booking to undertake specific courses. She can be contacted at deirdre.haycock@climbingthewalls.club or by calling us on 01743 490 495
