How to become an instructor

Are you inspired to build a career in the climbing industry? How you become a climbing instructor depends entirely on your aspiration. Mountain Training Association (MTA) provides several different pathways for people to start their climbing career in this exciting industry.

Here at Climbing the Walls, you can complete your first MTA course. The Indoor Climbing Assistant qualification is just the right course to get you started. Get inspired by watching this video..

The Indoor Climbing Assistant course is designed for people who want to support qualified instructors with climbing sessions on artificial structures.

People interested in this scheme could be you, as an individual who wants to complete the first step towards building a career in climbing field. During the course the focus is on assisting the qualified instructor. This course is also suitable for parents, youth workers, young leaders or teachers and the focus is on assisting with core tasks within a session.

A qualified Indoor Climbing Assistant can operate on:

  • Indoor and outdoor artificial bouldering venues
  • Indoor and outdoor climbing walls.
